Let it Snow!

It is cold and snowy outside, but I'm enjoying staying inside by our fire cuddling with my little kittens. It's fun to lay down on the couch to read and have the whole group join me :-). Then when they start playing I have to put my book or whatever I'm working on down, so I can just enjoy watching them play. They are so funny! They climb under the blankets and attack each other while making funny noises. Or they find the long lost toy under the couch and go crazy chasing it around the room. They have also met their father Pippin and adore him. It's funny to watch them trailing behind him as he walks around the house, resembling very much a mother duck and her ducklings following in a row.

And we are excited to announce that we are getting ready very soon to introduce our youngest kittens! I can't believe they are 7 weeks old already. They are a fun bunch! We hope to have their pictures on our website before long.

Fun new things

At this time of year we sometimes have people ask for ideas for new toys for their cats. So, this year we have tried a few and want to share our thoughts.
1. Ball of Furry Fury - Our cats love this toy! And I love it because it's too big to roll under the furniture and get lost. They roll it around and chase it...they lay down and stick their paws in to try to get the mouse. If it rolls a certain way a little mouse squeak sound is made and they love that. It's definitely worth the money!
2. LED Motion activated ball - Despite the negative reviews on amazon, our cats love this ball. It is heavy and it is small enough to go under furniture, so it did get lost under the couch for a while...but since it's light is motion activated we were able to find it by walking by the couch and noticing the lights. It's not too pricey so it might be fun for you to try if you are looking for something new.
3. Mouse Hunter - This toy is a big hit! I have found them playing with it under the Christmas tree and in the bathroom. This toy gets around in other words :-).

Some "Oldies but Goodies" -
1. Cheese Chase - This is by far one of the favorite toys all time! Even our adult cats play with them a lot. If you don't have one, it is a great investment!
2. Mylar Balls - Another huge favorite! They do get lost under furniture, so we would recommend getting more than one.

Going where none of them have gone before....

Ida Red and Lodi's kittens have started their exploration outside of their nests! It is so fun to see them taking their first strolls around the room. They are all super sweet kittens, purring when I pet them. Lodi's kittens seem to not be able to stand up while I pet them, they all end up rolling over on to their backs so I can pet their stomachs :-). All the kittens are starting to find me when I come into the room too. I will sit down on the floor and pretty soon they will come walking up to me. It's fun to start to learn about them and to see their personalities coming out!

Nova and Dora's kittens continue to grow and learn about their surroundings. It never fails to amaze me how much fun they can have with simple and ordinary objects (like a little tuft of fur on the floor or a spot on the wall!). They also love to chase each other around and it's fun to watch them flip and cartwheel across the room. I can't believe some of the tumbling they do...it's graceful and impossible looking all at the same time :-). We have about a month left with these two litters and I'm enjoying every last minute!

Best way to spend an hour!

I spent an hour today in one of the best ways. Nova's kittens were crawling all over me, all six of them at once. They were diving through my legs to crawl out the other side, playing hide and seek under my legs, laying on my lap looking up at me...it was great! I will never get tired of being on the bottom of a Ragdoll pile ;-).

Introducing Dora and Nova's kittens

We recently posted two new litters of kittens on our kitten page. It's so fun to show pictures of them after telling stories about them for a couple months. Each kitten is such a joy and each has it's own little personality.

Dora's kittens have recently found our bed and I get little kitten massages in the morning (ie - kittens running across my back). They are a fun alarm :-) and have been very good about not waking me up before it's time.

Nova's kittens are super sweet. We love snuggle time with them. I can't wait until they are exploring more of the house and make it up into our living room and bedroom for tv and bedtime snuggles.

Lodi and Ida's kittens are almost the same age (only 3 days apart) and so it's fun to watch them hitting their milestones together. Their eyes have started to open and they are wondering around in their nests more. We are even hearing little purrs when we pet them. It's so fun!

We hope soon to add some of our new breeders to our breeder page, so check back to see updated pictures of our new queens and king. Also, we have some scrapbook updates we are working on. I will make sure to post another update on our blog when everything is done.

More kittens!

We have another new litter of kittens. Lodi had her first litter of kittens Wednesday, November 2nd. Thankfully she had them during the day! I love it when they do that :-). So with Lodi's kittens and Ida's new litter we have lots of little ones to care for right now. It's a busy time!

We also are introducing Dora's kittens for the first time. We have talked about them and now you can see them and learn about their personalities by going to our kitten page. They are a beautiful bunch of little apples!

Ida Red's First Kittens

Ida Red had her first litter of kittens early this morning. She is doing very well. We are excited to see what our first litter from a tortie girl has as far as colors. She has a wide variety of possibilities, including red males, tortie females, and all the other colors.

Dakota Gold is retiring

Dakota our beautiful red point male is retiring. He has had some wonderful kittens for us throughout the years and we are so glad to have had him as one of our foundation studs. Unfortunately he could not produce any blue babies, so we are needing to move to a new boy that can do that for us. He is wonderfully gentle and loves nothing more than to cuddle up next to us and purr - that is unless you count rolling over to have his tummy rubbed! He is a total lap cat and will sit on your lap through a whole movie without getting down. He has gorgeous blue eyes and he gets along with everyone he meets. We think he is the best! He will fit in well with any family, but would probably prefer a quiet home with another cat or two to socialize with. He has not had very much experience with children and no experience with dogs, but his personality is such that we are sure he would adjust eventually if you are willing to be patient with him. For more pictures and adoption information see our retiring breeder page.

Ready, set - going home!

Bailey's kittens are heading to their new homes next week. They are so cuddly. I've had all 5 of them wanting to sit on my lap at once...and they all are begging for kisses lately. It's very sweet. We will miss them when they go, but are so excited for their new families to finally meet them.

Dora's kittens are almost litter trained, so hopefully they will start running the house soon. They are super sweet and floppy kittens. They run up to me when I go into their room and they beg me to sit down so they can climb on my lap and snuggle. We have 6 little girls and one boy in the litter and we hope to introduce them with pictures and descriptions on our kitten page in a couple of weeks.

Nova's kittens are just starting to crawl out of the nest. They are already wanting to be involved in everything I'm doing, whether it's sweeping or filling the food bowl. It's funny to see them moving around so fast, since their legs seem barely long enough to keep their bellies off the floor :-). We have some super social and cuddly kittens in this bunch.

Full house

We have a full house here at Little Apple this October! It's fun to have a bunch of little ones all at different stages.

Bailey's kittens are about 12 weeks old and in full kitten play mode. We are enjoying their funny ways! Everything is a game to them - even picture taking time. They want to play with the camera, play with the afghan (they bite the little balls - see below), and play with anything that comes their way (a tail passing by perhaps!). It is a lot of fun.

Dora's kittens are about 3 weeks old now and so sweet! They are running around their room now and exploring everything. They are already playing with the broom when I sweep and begging me to sit down so they can climb on my lap. They just started to eat solid food and soon will start litter training!

Nova's kittens are about 1 week old now and so tiny compared to our other kittens (even though they are big for their age). Their eyes are not yet open, but they are already interacting with me. When I lay down with my head in their nest they come up to me and they purr when I pet them. Several of them love to lay on their back with their stomachs fully exposed while they are sleeping...it is so adorable!

Nova's first litter of kittens has arrived!

Very early in the morning (1am to be exact) on Friday, September 23rd, we welcomed our first Nova kitten into our home. Nova is one of our new breeders and we are excited to have kittens by her and Pippin. I was a little worn out from being up all night, so I forgot to post a blog yesterday announcing them. Staying up until 6am is a little hard on me ;-). It was worth it though! All the kittens are doing well and Nova looks like a pro. She is very caring and was a great mother right from the start.

New Scrapbook entries!

We have had several people write us recently to share pictures and stories about their Little Apple kittens. It's fun to see pictures of the kittens in their new homes, some of them all grown up even. Take a look at our scrapbook to see some of the new entries. You will have to go back to page 2 and 4 to see a couple of them (Merlin and Norland). Thank you to all that have shared pictures and stories with us over the years!

Dora has kittens

Dora's kittens were born yesterday! Mom and kittens are all doing very well. It's fun to have tiny kittens in our home again. I love looking at their tiny feet and watching them as they sleep and eat, since that's about all they do right now ;-). Dora is so happy I can hear her purring from across the room. She is such a good mother.

Little Apple Pink Pearl is Retiring

Pink Pearl is a beautiful 2 year old seal lynx bicolor female that we raised up as a kitten from Emma and Crispin to be a breeder here at Little Apple. She produced some beautiful and wonderful kittens for us and we don't really want to retire her. Unfortunately, she did not produce enough milk to feed her kittens which isn't good for a mother, so we are regretfully doing just that. She has bursts of energy where she is very playful which is fun to watch. She loves cat nip toys and the scratching posts (we even find her sleeping curled up around it). She also loves to watch the birds out the window. And whenever we get a box, she is sure to come and play in it! Her favorite place to sleep is on the highest shelf of the cat tree and she also likes to sleep with us at night. She is very social and wants to be in the same room as us. She is a very beautiful girl with one of the biggest, fluffiest tails. She also has one of the softest coats. We think Pink Pearl will do well in a home with other animals or a home with children. As an adult she will need a little longer adjustment period than our kittens to a new home environment, but she has always adjusted well to the other animals she meets in our homes and has done well when children come to visit. She has had her annual exam and her spay surgery, so she will not need any health care for another year. Let us know if you are interested in adding Pink Pearl to your family!

Kitten fun

I am really enjoying Bailey's kittens. They are playful, fun, silly, and constantly make me laugh. They run up to me when I come in their room and they want to play and be involved in whatever I'm doing at the time. It's so fun to have kittens helping me sweep again :-). They all love to be held and just lay back in my arms like it's the most wonderful thing. They all purr - loudly - when I pet them. I can't wait until they are running the whole house. Just a few more days!

Introducing Bailey's kittens

We have pictures of Bailey and Pippin's kittens born July 6th, 2011 on our website, along with a little description of each. They are a beautiful group! And so super sweet! We hope you enjoy seeing them and reading about them :-).

Home Again

It was very refreshing to have a trip away from home these last couple weeks. It helps to know that our cats and kittens are being well taken care of by my mom and sister. We were able to escape the heat of Kansas for a little bit and head to the mountains. It was beautiful and cool. We enjoyed our backpacking trips, camping, and hiking. But as always, I was glad to get home again.

Bailey's kittens grew a lot while I was gone. They were barely toddlers when I left - walking around on wobbling legs. Now they are running all over the room. Their personalities are starting to come out and I love going in to just watch them play. It will take me a few more days to feel like I really know them well, but already I can tell that we have a playful and cuddly group.

Little Apple Update

It has been a little crazy since I last wrote a blog. We have been busy with house projects, baby kittens, older kittens going home, and all the other things life throws in :-).

The cats love house projects. All the furniture covered with sheets while we are painting makes everything more fun! They hide under them, play around them, roll up in them. I never knew sheets could be so entertaining ;-)...or at least I forgot how entertaining they could be. I used to love making sheet forts when I was a kid! Anyway, it has been fun to watch them enjoying the new playground.

Almost all our older kittens have departed for their new homes. This is hard for me every time. I always have the feeling that my house is empty. I miss them playing around my feet while I sit at the computer. I miss them joining me in the bathroom while I'm getting ready in the morning. I miss them helping me clean and helping me cook. And I miss them joining me for cuddles at night or when I sit down on the couch. I'm always glad, though, to hear that their new families are enjoying them :-).

Bailey's little ones are growing and starting to play. It's so fun to see them wobbling around the nest, trying to figure out how to walk and attack each other. We had two of the kittens hit 1 pound before they were even 3 weeks old, so these kittens are huge!

Scrapbook Updates

We recently updated our scrapbook, adding several new letters from our kitten owners and lots of new pictures. It is always fun to see pictures of our kittens in their new homes and hear how they are doing. And we especially love seeing what they look like as they mature into adults. Thank you to everyone that has shared these pictures with us and given us permission to post them on our website!

Introducing LittleApple Ida Red

Ida was born here at Little Apple and from the moment her tortie colorings started to come in, we knew we were going to keep her. She is a seal tortie mitted girl and her face is split right down the middle (half seal, half red). This is very unusual. Everyone that sees her comments on her markings and how beautiful she is. She is a Sweet Gala and Dakota daughter. She is going to be a big girl, with her mother's playfulness and her father's purr. She is a beautiful and sweet girl, it's going to be fun to see her kittens later this year.

Bailey's new kittens

Bailey had her kittens really early this morning. She is pretty predictable. She has always started her labor in the late evening (when I'm usually heading to bed) and has her kittens in the middle of the night. It's really hard for me to stay awake to help her, so I try to encourage her to have them during the day, but so far she hasn't listened to my pleas ;-). Anyway, she did really well and the kittens are all huge (as usual) and doing well. It's so fun to have babies again!

Happy July 4th!

It's been a wonderful 4th of July weekend. The cats and kittens are doing surprisingly well with all the celebrations. Every once and a while someone growls when a big boom is really close, but for the most part everyone is acting completely normal. They are running around the house, untying my shoe laces, and following me from room to room as I'm working around the house just like normal. I'm glad that the cats and kittens are so unconcerned with all the noise outside :-).

Dora's kittens are running around the "whole" house now. This means they found the basement. It's really funny to watch them running up and down the stairs like wild cats ;-). They are growing so big and it surprised me when I realized we have less than 3 weeks with them. I love watching them play and I'm going to have a very empty house for a while when they are gone.

But...we are expecting new kittens soon. Bailey is due sometime this week. Of course, it will be a couple months before her kittens are running the house, so I will still have that empty house feeling for a while. We will let you know when the new little ones arrive!

Introducing Soulmates Clara of LittleApple

Clara is our beauty queen and she comes to us from Soulmate Ragdolls in North Carolina. She is a blue bicolor, with huge eyes, super soft fur, and the most beautiful of faces. She is super floppy and loves everyone she meets. She purrs constantly while you are petting her and will lay on our laps forever. She also loves to sleep with us. Her favorite place in our home is in a basket on top of our tv armoire. Her favorite toy is the mylar wands and she is a bit of a drama queen if anyone else gets too close while she is playing ;-). She is often at our window watching the birds on the bird feeders and if I'm on the computer she is trying to catch the mouse curser. We are excited about Clara, she has a sweet and fun personality. We can't wait to see her kittens this fall.

Introducing Lodi of Little Apple

We raised Lodi here at Little Apple from our last Emma and Crispin litter. She is a perfectly marked seal lynx bicolor girl. She has the fullest fluffiest tail of any of our girls. In fact, it sometimes looks bigger than her body. Lodi is going to be a big girl. Her favorite things are sleeping by my feet, playing with the little pipe cleaner toys, and hanging out with her good friends Almata and Ida. She also loves to drink water from the faucet. She will come running from anywhere in the house when she hears me turn on water :-).

The sounds of pattering feet

Ahh...I love that sound. It's great to have Dora's kittens pattering through my living room as I write this. They are loving all the space to run and all the places to explore. It's fun to watch them discovering all the new things now that their world has become a lot bigger. They still don't know what to think about me walking through the house and the toilet flushing makes them jump. It's just a fun time for me to watch them learn and mature...and a fun time for them as they grow and explore.

The older kittens are having fun exploring my mom's home and though I miss out on seeing them as much as I get to see the kittens here, it's fun to hear about them. They love playing under the couch and on top of it. They also love running up and down the stairs. Pink Pearl's kittens are getting close to being ready for their new homes and we will miss them when they go. I love listening to the girls twitter while they play and watching little Mel bravely going out into the unknown with his tail straight up. All of them are real cuddlers and everyone that sees them can't help but say how beautiful and soft they are. It will be sad to see them go, as always, but it's fun to hear how they fit into their new families.

We are also starting to prepare for Sweet Gala, Emma, and Pink Pearl to leave us. We are retiring these three girls from breeding. It's always hard to see our girls go because we have had them with us so long and they are part of our families. But, we also know they will enjoy joining new families and living the good life of retirement, so that makes it easier on us.

Quiet...kind of

My house is strangely quiet now that all our Emma and Bailey kittens are gone. Dora's kittens are about ready to come out of the litter training room, so that will start to change soon. I will have kittens running around again, getting involved with my chores, playing with everything in site. I enjoy the busy, noisy, fun household of kittens. Of course right now, it's not really "quiet" since our young breeding queens are singing all about how they are ready to have kittens - they are not, but they think so ;-). Still, it feels quiet without all the kitten activity.

Cone Heads

It's always fun to have the kittens come home after surgery with their little e-collars on. The "e" stands for Elizabethan which I think is funny since it kind of looks like the collars Queen Elizabeth wore and, yes, that is apparently how they got their name. We like to call them cones, it's just easier and it's more fun to call them cone heads than e-collar heads ;-). It takes the kittens a little time to get used to eating, drinking, using the litter, etc with the cones on. Even walking around the room can be difficult at first. Some of them lift their feet way up in the air when they walk, almost saying "I can't see the ground so how do I know where to put my feet?" Some of them run into furniture, the wall, and each other. It's fun to watch them :-). It doesn't take them long before they adjust, though, and start running and jumping around the room. Anyway, we decided it would be fun to share a picture. So, here they are relaxing in front of the window in their surgery recovery room. They really are cute!

Introducing Rags2Riches Nova of LittleApple

Nova is a beautiful blue mitted girl with a small blaze. She actually looks a lot like our new king, Devon. So much so, that we can only tell them apart when they are together by close scrutiny. Nova loves to play with the younger kittens, it is one of her favorite past times. She also loves to sleep near us - on the bed or on my head :-). The bathtub is one of her favorite places to play, she likes to slide around in it. She also likes the little cheese chaser toy a lot! She gets along very well with everyone she meets and likes to be in the same room with me. She especially likes to help me with what I'm doing. She has a wonderfully soft and full fur coat, it's also one of the longest coats we have. She is like a soft puff ball. We love it! We can't wait to see her first kittens later this year.

Wednesday, May 11, 2011

Introducing Little Apple Almata

Almata is one of our new breeding queens. She is out of our own lines, a Dakota and Pink Pearl daughter. She is a seal torbie bicolor. She is our youngest new queen, but I'm starting with her because she has a pattern that we do not yet have a picture of on our website. The seal torbie bicolor pattern is very similar to a seal lynx bicolor, but with the addition of some red patches coming through. Almata is still young enough that her red coloring has not come in fully, but you can start to see it on the left side of her face. Almata is a very beautiful girl and she gets along with everyone she meets. She loves to cuddle and lays right on my stomach at night purring away. Her favorite things are cuddling and playing with the mylar wand. She also enjoys kittens - of any size. She is a natural mother, taking over that job for any kitten she sees. We look forward to seeing her first kittens in the fall 2011.

Recovery fun

Bailey's kittens just had their spay/neuter surgeries earlier this week. I have to admit that this time can be very funny. They all wear e-collars (or cones) on their heads to keep them from licking the incisions. It's so fun to watch them walk. They bob their heads up and down trying to see the floor and occasionally run into things (the dresser, the other dresser, each other). It's also funny to see them try to eat out of the food bowls or drink from the water bowls. I usually have pity on them and remove their collars so they can eat more easily, but it's fun to watch for just a little while ;-). And then, of course, they want to cuddle with me and they just can't get close enough with the cone on, so off it goes again...I'm so nice. But then I have to put the cone back on to make sure they heal properly. They also jump and run around like they didn't have surgery at all. They are of course in one room, so they can't run around too much. And I try to take everything out of the room that they can jump on to prevent the jumping...but if they want to just jump up in the air, I can't really stop that ;-). Anyway, recovery is always fun...and challenging, but I prefer to focus on the fun! Did I mention that they are all purring so loudly when I'm in their room that I can't hear anything else? It is really loud!

Emma's kittens are so much fun right now. They have been sleeping with us and on us, watching tv with us and on us...they are becoming very involved in our lives. A couple of them found the cursor on the computer recently. It's a little hard to type with a kitten (or two) standing in front of the monitor, but they were having fun...and any excuse not to work ;-).

Gala and Pink Pearl's kittens are at my mom's, so I don't get to see them as much. But, every time I'm over there they run right up to me and start playing right at my feet (sometimes with my feet). They are sweet and funny and I love to visit them.

Dora's kittens are starting to walk out of the nest now. They are even "helping" me clean litter boxes and sweep already. It's fun to start to see their personalities emerging. And the exciting news is we have our first blue kittens!

Enjoying the moments

Soon Bailey's kittens will start to go to their new homes. It is always sad when we realize that we only have a short amount of time left, but I'm enjoying my last moments with them. Last night as I was typing on the computer all 7 of them were positioned around me on the desk, sitting behind me on the chair, sitting on my lap, and sitting at my feet. They were not bothering me, just wanted to be close. This is the norm right now, whatever I'm doing they are there. It's really fun and I will miss them when they go.

Soulmates Devon of Little Apple

I am finally getting around to introducing some of our new breeders. Devon is our new blue mitted king. He is a super sweet and cuddly boy. He is very social and wants to be right where we are. He loves to plop down right next to us and roll on his back so we will pet his belly. If more than one person is in the room he will walk back and forth between all the people letting each have an opportunity for "Devon petting". It's very funny! He loves to play with anything, but especially likes his little fluffy ball. He carries it around in his mouth from room to room, then goes crazy chasing it across the floor. He also likes water and it's hard to keep him away from the sink. He will jump right in with the water going. We are enjoying this super floppy boy and can't wait to see his first litter of kittens in the fall.

Full house

All our spring litters are now born. It's so fun to have everyone here! We are enjoying all the different stages.

Bailey and Emma's kittens are running the house and making us laugh constantly. We love watching them bound around the room, chasing each other. We smile at everything that has become a toy to them: a fake leaf from one of my fake house plants, my flip flops, the blanket on the couch (it's fun to hide under), and even the water bowl can be fun to play in ;-). Yesterday they were playing with a piece of dirt I brought in after being in the gardens all afternoon. They were pouncing at it and going crazy. They also love the broom, so much that I have to shut some of them up before I sweep so I can actually accomplish something. They love to be involved in whatever I'm doing. They also love to sleep on the bed with us, there just isn't room for everyone all at once so we have to take turns. We catch them sleeping in the cutest positions (like the picture below). I wish I could capture more of them on camera, but usually they move before I can snap a picture. We also catch them doing the sweetest things. A couple of the kittens were wrestling yesterday and they started patting their paws together in just the right way to make it look like they were playing patty cake! It was so funny to me. We are enjoying these little ones.

Gala and Pink Pearl's kittens are in their toddler stage. They are at my mom's house right now, so I don't see them as often as I would like. Mom is taking great care of them, though. Every time I go over there they are running around like they just figured out they have legs. It's hilarious. One of the little girls is often caught running around and moving her ears around like someone is chasing her, but there isn't anyone behind her. It cracks us all up. I could watch them all day!

Dora's kittens are not yet a week old, so personality isn't coming out on them quite yet. I am amazed at how big her kittens are! One of the boys is going to reach half a pound before he is 1 week old. I don't think we've ever had a kitten that big. The thing is, the rest of them are not far behind him. We can't wait to see their colors and patterns come in.

Dora's Kittens are here

Dora and Pippin's first litter of kittens were born today, on their due date. It's always fun when that happens. And I love it when the mom's have their kittens during the day! It's so very kind of them :-). Mom and kittens are doing well.

Litter Lifter

I recently was needing a new litter scoop and ran across a recommendation from a friend of mine - Jenny at www.floppycats.com - for the litter lifter. I figured it was worth trying something new, but I wasn't really sure that it would be much better than my current scoops. Wow, was I wrong! The litter lifter is amazing. The first time I used it, I couldn't believe the difference. I then bought one for my mom to try. She was amazed as well. The litter goes through the scoop almost as fast as you lift it and you don't have to shake the scoop to get the litter out. That means no more clumps breaking up, a lot less dust flying in the air, and a lot less work in general when scooping. So, for the first time ever we are recommending a litter scoop on our litter page. You can find the Litter lifter at your local Pet Co or online. It really does make a difference!

Crazy fun!

It is so much fun to have two litters of kittens running around our home. I wish I could tape the sound of them running around the house. It is so funny to hear 13 little feet pitter pattering through the house...and a couple big feet too, since the mothers like to join in the fun and games at times. The kittens are all best buds and they play with each other all the time. Some of their favorite toys are, the broom - yes this is always a favorite. It's so fun to attack it and chase it and sit in the dirt pile and wait for it to come back. This makes sweeping take twice as long, but it's a fun game :-). They also love shoes, pipe cleaners, kleenex (if they get a hold of them which I try not to let them), any type of ball and especially ones that make noise. They also love to climb the mountains on the bed (ie my husband and I), especially in the morning after our alarm has gone off. They know it's time for us to get up ;-). We are really enjoying them. It's fun to have a full house again!

Play and Crash

Bailey and Emma's kittens are running the house now. This is our favorite time with the kittens. They play hard and then crash - sometimes in the funniest places and positions. They will be in the middle of a doorway fast asleep or hanging halfway off the couch - or they might have a toy still under their paw. It's super cute! Bailey's kittens have found their way up to the bed and are starting to sleep with us. They sleep a little while and then wake up and play on us. It's the best kind of alarm clock! It's a fun time.

Gala Kitten

I'm a little behind in blogging. Gala had her kitten this weekend on Saturday. Yes, you read correctly...she had one kitten. We knew she was going to have a small litter because she just never really looked very pregnant, but this is our first litter of one. Gala and Pink Pearl chose the same nest, though, so all the kittens are together. We are glad - the older kittens will keep the little one warm and both mothers are feeding all the kittens meaning that they will be well fed little ones. It's kind of sweet to see them sharing the responsibilities.

What's New

Pink Pearl's kittens are all at their new homes. Our house is feeling strangely empty and quiet. I can't wait until the little ones are running all over our home :-).

Bailey's kittens are approaching four weeks of age and they are starting to litter train. This means a lot of laundry for a while ;-). But it's fun for me right now as I'm starting to get to know them. They are all sweet kittens and walk right up to me when I get in their litter training area. They cuddle with me and roll over so I can pet their stomachs. They lick my fingers and are super floppy when I pick them up. It's a lot of fun. This litter has a lot of kittens that are almost identical in looks, so it will take me a little while to be able to tell them apart.

Emma's kittens are just over a week old and their eyes are starting to open. It's fun to see them growing...it seems like they are bigger every time I look at them.

We also have a few new things on our website. We are slowly working to add articles and update articles, so keep looking here for notices of our new articles.

1. Hair, Hair Everywhere! - This is an article about hair or fur.

2. Picking up your Ragdoll kitten - This article is more for people that are getting ready to pick up their kitten. It goes over what to bring for the trip and what we will provide.

3. We updated our food and litter articles to include the type of wet food we use and the litter box we recently found that we really like.

4. We also started updating our breeder page. We have added a few fun facts about our current breeders and will start adding pictures and information about our new breeders in the next few weeks.

Big, Little Kittens

Bailey's kittens turned 3 weeks old today. It's so fun to watch them starting to walk around and play with one another. They are very sweet kittens and walk right up to me when I lay down next to their nest. They are huge kittens. I'm looking forward to the next few weeks when we start to learn their personalities. It's a fun time!

Kittens

Pink Pearl's kittens are almost ready to go to their new homes. We are excited for their families to meet them. They purr constantly and love to be held. They sleep on our bed with us at night all around my legs, which makes it hard to move - but it's worth it :-). We will miss them when they are gone.

Bailey and her kittens are continuing to do very well. The kittens are about 2 weeks old now and all of their eyes are open. Some of the boys are well on their way to a pound already - they will probably hit it well before they are 3 weeks old, which is amazing! We have some huge kittens in this litter.

Emma is getting closer to her due date and she looks like she could have kittens any day now, so watch for an announcement soon about our first Emma and Dakota kittens. We are excited to see them!

What's New at Little Apple?

We have a lot of new things going on at Little Apple Ragdolls.

1. Just last week we had our 4 new breeders pass through their final health evaluations. We are so excited to have them with us. All of them are blues and are the foundation for our new blue lines. We plan to start introducing them on the blog one at a time over the next few weeks, so check back with us to see pictures and hear stories about our new queens and our new king. Pictured is Rags2Riches Nova of Little Apple one of our new queens. Thanks Scottie for this beautiful girl!

2. We have our first litter of Sweet Pippin kittens due soon. Pippin is a boy that we raised up from our own lines. He is the "perfect" cat! We can't wait to see what his kittens will be like. Bailey is the mother and is looking more and more ready everyday, so look for the announcement soon!

3. We will be making some updates and additions to our website over the next few weeks. You will start to see changes arriving on almost every page. Our breeder page will be updated to show our new queens and kings. Our library will get some additional articles and some old articles are being updated. We are also making changes to our scrapbook to make it more user friendly. Starting now the newest pictures will be on the first page, so you don't have to flip through the scrapbook to see new additions. We are adding color and patterns to the listings so people are better able to see how the colors and patterns change over time. We are also adding a lot of new pictures and updates to the scrapbook. Thanks to everyone who has sent us pictures! It's such a joy to see our kittens in their new homes and all grown up!
