Enjoying the moments

Soon Bailey's kittens will start to go to their new homes. It is always sad when we realize that we only have a short amount of time left, but I'm enjoying my last moments with them. Last night as I was typing on the computer all 7 of them were positioned around me on the desk, sitting behind me on the chair, sitting on my lap, and sitting at my feet. They were not bothering me, just wanted to be close. This is the norm right now, whatever I'm doing they are there. It's really fun and I will miss them when they go.

Soulmates Devon of Little Apple

I am finally getting around to introducing some of our new breeders. Devon is our new blue mitted king. He is a super sweet and cuddly boy. He is very social and wants to be right where we are. He loves to plop down right next to us and roll on his back so we will pet his belly. If more than one person is in the room he will walk back and forth between all the people letting each have an opportunity for "Devon petting". It's very funny! He loves to play with anything, but especially likes his little fluffy ball. He carries it around in his mouth from room to room, then goes crazy chasing it across the floor. He also likes water and it's hard to keep him away from the sink. He will jump right in with the water going. We are enjoying this super floppy boy and can't wait to see his first litter of kittens in the fall.

Full house

All our spring litters are now born. It's so fun to have everyone here! We are enjoying all the different stages.

Bailey and Emma's kittens are running the house and making us laugh constantly. We love watching them bound around the room, chasing each other. We smile at everything that has become a toy to them: a fake leaf from one of my fake house plants, my flip flops, the blanket on the couch (it's fun to hide under), and even the water bowl can be fun to play in ;-). Yesterday they were playing with a piece of dirt I brought in after being in the gardens all afternoon. They were pouncing at it and going crazy. They also love the broom, so much that I have to shut some of them up before I sweep so I can actually accomplish something. They love to be involved in whatever I'm doing. They also love to sleep on the bed with us, there just isn't room for everyone all at once so we have to take turns. We catch them sleeping in the cutest positions (like the picture below). I wish I could capture more of them on camera, but usually they move before I can snap a picture. We also catch them doing the sweetest things. A couple of the kittens were wrestling yesterday and they started patting their paws together in just the right way to make it look like they were playing patty cake! It was so funny to me. We are enjoying these little ones.

Gala and Pink Pearl's kittens are in their toddler stage. They are at my mom's house right now, so I don't see them as often as I would like. Mom is taking great care of them, though. Every time I go over there they are running around like they just figured out they have legs. It's hilarious. One of the little girls is often caught running around and moving her ears around like someone is chasing her, but there isn't anyone behind her. It cracks us all up. I could watch them all day!

Dora's kittens are not yet a week old, so personality isn't coming out on them quite yet. I am amazed at how big her kittens are! One of the boys is going to reach half a pound before he is 1 week old. I don't think we've ever had a kitten that big. The thing is, the rest of them are not far behind him. We can't wait to see their colors and patterns come in.

Dora's Kittens are here

Dora and Pippin's first litter of kittens were born today, on their due date. It's always fun when that happens. And I love it when the mom's have their kittens during the day! It's so very kind of them :-). Mom and kittens are doing well.

Litter Lifter

I recently was needing a new litter scoop and ran across a recommendation from a friend of mine - Jenny at www.floppycats.com - for the litter lifter. I figured it was worth trying something new, but I wasn't really sure that it would be much better than my current scoops. Wow, was I wrong! The litter lifter is amazing. The first time I used it, I couldn't believe the difference. I then bought one for my mom to try. She was amazed as well. The litter goes through the scoop almost as fast as you lift it and you don't have to shake the scoop to get the litter out. That means no more clumps breaking up, a lot less dust flying in the air, and a lot less work in general when scooping. So, for the first time ever we are recommending a litter scoop on our litter page. You can find the Litter lifter at your local Pet Co or online. It really does make a difference!
